Compare dispersion, sigma, aiming skills, reload and Rapid Reload using actual ship data.
Understanding shell dispersion
Minimum and maximum dispersion describe a radius around the aim point. A 300 m radius allows impacts up to 300 m to either side.
Dispersion increases from the minimum to the maximum with distance. The expression below assumes the usual zero minimum firing range.
Higher sigma concentrates shells near the center. Direction is uniform and radial distance follows a truncated normal distribution. Target size, angle, movement and aim also affect hit rate.
Minimum-dispersion reduction contributes more at shorter ranges; maximum-dispersion reduction contributes more at longer ranges. Actual equipment has different reduction rates, so minimum-dispersion equipment is not always better up close. Ordinary Precise Aim reduces both dispersion endpoints; it does not increase sigma.
With ordinary Spotter Plane, extending range reduces dispersion at the same target distance when both dispersion endpoints stay unchanged. This follows from the client formula and does not mean AP penetration increases. At the new maximum range, dispersion reaches its maximum again. Special spotter skills have their own effects.
Understanding reload and Rapid Reload
Percentage modifiers to the same port statistic are added before applying them to the base value. Flat adjustments are added afterward. Whether battle buffs share that same sum is not established here.
A 23-second reload with −10% and −5% modifiers becomes 19.55 seconds. A 15% reload-time reduction increases sustained firing rate by about 17.6%.
Rapid Reload III halves reload time, doubling the sustained firing rate while active. Elite République changes from 21 s to 10.5 s with this skill alone, but the skill lasts 15 s. Extra salvos depend on reload progress, firing timing and how long a target remains available; whole-battle DPM does not simply double.
A fan explanation based on 9.4.0 client data and code analysis. It may change with patches and does not predict actual hit rates or damage.
