Tier VII · Cruiser · Italy
Rating B+ (Above average within its tier and class · overall score 56) · Durable cruiser
Durable cruiser, suited to long-range fire support. It is especially strong against cruisers and battleships (SAP deals a same-tier cruiser's HP in about 3 min on paper). With 11.6 km range and tight groupings but low speed, it suits setting up behind the line and firing from afar. Effective HP of 34,500 is 14% above average, and smoke help it last. SAP deals heavy direct damage to destroyers, light cruisers and superstructures with no overpens, but it cannot start fires or damage armor thicker than its penetration. Its firepower trails other cruisers, so pick favorable angles and ranges over straight DPM races.

During the pre-war period, she was one of the best heavy cruisers in the world. The ship differed favorably from most contemporary counterparts by her good armor protection, her overall well-balanced characteristics, but most of all, by her armament and speed.
