Tsurugi
Tier IX · Battleship · Japan · Premium
Rating D (Bottom tier within its tier and class · overall score 12) · Fast battleship
Fast battleship, suited to flanking. It is weak against cruisers (AP deals a same-tier cruiser's HP in about 4 min on paper). Top speed of 34.1 kn is 4.5 kn above average, with good turning, rudder shift, acceleration. Detectability of 10.8 km is 0.84 km below average, so it is less likely to be spotted first. Key skills: Engine Accelerator I ×2 (top speed +8%, 25 s); Sonar I ×1 (3.75 km, 25 s); Torpedo Reload II ×2. Its firepower trails other battleships, so be selective and punish broadsides.

According to the Japanese Navy's new development plan, the projects of battleships and battlecruisers didn't differ much—battlecruisers featured the same speed as the Kii-class battleships. This went beyond the accepted Japanese naval tactics. To increase the speed and turn a project into a true battlecruiser, one of the main turrets could be sacrificed.
