Lüshun
Tier X · Destroyer · Pan-Asia · Premium
Rating B+ (Above average within its tier and class · overall score 61) · Hybrid destroyer
A Pan-Asian destroyer with excellent offense but no smoke. Patch 9.2 raised its shell damage (AP 360 to 400, HE 260 to 290), range, HP (17,600 to 18,800), and AA. Its four 130 mm guns fire every 2.0 s for 58,133 AP DPM, 22% above average; small-caliber AP rarely overpenetrates destroyers, and 9.8 km range with good ballistics keeps it competitive in gunfights. Two charges of Torpedo Reload II let it unleash back-to-back torpedo spreads for huge damage on large ships, and 3 charges of Sonar II (4.5 km) detect nearby destroyers and torpedoes. On the other hand, with no smoke, a 35.0 kn top speed and 10.63 s acceleration, it is hard to shake pursuers once chased. The Heavy Repair Team specialty makes each Repair Kit heal about 29% of HP, so it recovers well, but it remains an all-or-nothing ship: a high ceiling, yet a single mistake can bring it down.

From 1949 through 1956, a scientific and technical support program was in effect between the U.S.S.R. and P.R.C. Under this program, among other things, the Soviets shared blueprints of promising warships with China. In particular, China received technical documentation on a Project 41 destroyer. While China didn't build any ships of this project in its original form, they built fifteen 051-class (Luda-class) missile destroyers between 1968 and 1987 that were based on the Soviet Project 41.
