Rating A (Strong within its tier and class · overall score 72) · Gunboat destroyer
A rapid-fire gunboat destroyer often called the American Friesland. Its three 127 mm single-mount guns fire every 1.3 s for 53,585 HE DPM, 29% above average, with expected fires per minute double the average. With 10.14 km range and accurate 6 km dispersion of about 83 m it harasses well at range, and an agile hull with 5.67 s acceleration and a 3.44 s rudder shift, plus Smoke Generator II and Sonar II, gives it good survivability. However, its 33.2 kn top speed is slow. Patch 9.2 widened the torpedo launch angle from 5° to 30°, making the torpedoes easier to use, but with only four per salvo their damage is 59% below average, so they remain a secondary weapon. Peak firepower requires chaining short reloads without pause, so it is a demanding ship to play.
