Châteaurenault
Tier X · Destroyer · France · Premium
Rating B- (Below average within its tier and class · overall score 46) · Stealth torpedo destroyer
A fast French destroyer based on Attilio Regolo, with an emphasis on fighting destroyers. A 42.1 kn top speed plus Engine Boost III make entering and leaving caps quick, and its 105 mm guns fire every 2.8 s, with Rapid Reload III (+50% reload, 15 s) giving a big short burst. AP salvo damage is 32% below average, so single hits on large ships are weak, but according to the wiki it can also fire SAP, making it especially threatening to thin-skinned destroyers. AA of 467 is 51% above average and comes with Air Defense Alert II, so it holds up against carriers. With no smoke or spotting skill, it must rely on speed alone once spotted.

The Capitani Romani class of light cruisers was designed to outmatch the French Mogador-class destroyers. When designing them, the Italian shipbuilders returned to the idea of minimum protection and maximum speed. The aim was a speed of 41 knots, which would make them faster than the French leaders—and they surpassed that target by 2 knots. Attilio Regolo was one of these light cruisers, and after the war, she was transferred to France under reparations and renamed Châteaurenault.
