Castilla
Tier X · Cruiser · Spain
Rating D (Bottom tier within its tier and class · overall score 15) · Balanced cruiser
A Spanish tech-tree cruiser with twelve 254 mm guns; a single AP salvo is around the tier X cruiser average, but burst fire, two volleys in quick succession, concentrates 20,034 damage on paper. Range is 13.08 km and 3 charges of Scout Plane II extend it further, while 3 charges each of Sonar II and Air Defense Alert II give it plenty of utility. However, low armor efficiency means shells penetrate it easily, and sluggish 18.76 s acceleration makes escaping trouble difficult. With no smoke it has few ways to survive once spotted, and little to do during the reload gap after a burst. Both the wiki and the community consider it one of the hardest cruisers to play at its tier.

While developing their own heavy cruisers, Spanish engineers actively adopted Italian experience and the latest achievements of Italian engineering in ship armor protection and armaments. The knowledge gained could have culminated in a project based on a fusion of Italian and Spanish naval design thinking—projects of the Ansaldo cruisers and a project for a "Super Washington" cruiser from the Ferrol shipyard.
