Cassard

Tier X · Destroyer · France

Rating B+ (Above average within its tier and class · overall score 59) · Stealth torpedo destroyer

A torpedo-focused French destroyer built around a 63,888 torpedo salvo and theoretical torpedo DPM 77% above average. Its 9.6 km torpedoes outrange its 6.36 km detectability by 3.24 km for stealth attacks, but they deal more damage up close and less at range, so real damage from long-range launches is lower. Its guns also reload in 3.2 s with expected fires per minute 32% above average, enough to fight back against both destroyers and battleships. However, it has no smoke, a 34.1 kn top speed and ordinary maneuverability, so its only way out once spotted is 5 charges of Emergency Engine Boost.

Cassard was a T-47-class destroyer in the first series of French destroyers built after the war. She was a further development of the Le Hardi class with larger dimensions and dual-purpose main armament. The primary function of the T-47-class ships was to escort aircraft carrier squadrons, requiring them to have only moderate speed. As part of the French squadron, Cassard participated in resolving the Suez Crisis of 1956. Most ships of this series were decommissioned from the Navy in the 1980s.
