A Brooklyn-class light cruiser. During the attack on Pearl Harbor, the ship was on a patrol mission. World War II saw her engage in reconnaissance and escort missions. She also participated in the Battle at Cape Esperance and suffered damage during the engagement. After repairs, she headed to the Mediterranean Sea, where she covered the landing of Allied troops on Sicily and Taranto. USS Boise then returned to the Pacific Ocean, where she fought in the Battle of Leyte Gulf and the Battle of Surigao Strait. During the course of the war, the cruiser was awarded 11 battle stars. In 1951, she was sold to Argentina.
