Black Shimanto
Tier VIII · Cruiser · Japan
Rating D (Bottom tier within its tier and class · overall score 8) · Torpedo cruiser
The Black version of Shimanto: a torpedo cruiser carrying fifteen 150 mm guns plus strong torpedoes. Torpedo salvo damage is 39% above average, and the 9.6 km range is 0.96 km beyond its 8.64 km detectability, allowing unspotted launches before it opens fire. Instead of the original's Air Defense Alert it gets 2 charges each of Torpedo Reload I and Engine Boost I for repeat salvos and easier escapes, plus 4 Damage Control Party charges. However, a 10.5 s reload and about 258 m dispersion at 10 km (16% wider than average) make its gunnery inaccurate. With no smoke and a large hull it struggles once spotted, and the latest Reddit tier list places it near the bottom.
