The second Deutschland-class ship, featuring different superstructure architecture and improved armor protection compared to the lead ship. Admiral Scheer was the most successful German raider during World War II, sinking 17 merchant ships during her 1940–1941 Atlantic campaign. In 1942, the cruiser operated in Arctic waters, and in 1944, in the Baltic. Admiral Scheer was sunk in Kiel during an Allied air raid in April 1945.
